OUR STORY
NightCap was born from a dream, literally. At just 16 years old, founder Shirah Benarde envisioned a simple but powerful way to prevent drink spiking after her friend’s experience at a party. That idea became the NightCap Scrunchie, a wearable drink cover that discreetly doubles as a hair accessory. Joined by her brother Michael, the two co-founded NightCap with a mission to make nightlife safer for everyone.
The idea quickly gained national attention after securing a deal on Shark Tank and has since grown into a global safety movement.
Safety Meets Legislation
NightCap is more than a product company, it’s a driving force for change.
In 2024, NightCap played a key role in passing California Bill AB 2375, a first-of-its-kind law mandating that bars with full liquor licenses provide drink covers to patrons upon request. This groundbreaking legislation sets a precedent for how safety can and should be built into nightlife culture.
Our team is now actively supporting similar bills in New York, Massachusetts, and beyond, working alongside lawmakers, universities, and advocacy groups to ensure that safety is not left up to chance, it’s built into the system.
